My Son Duke has a Audi A3 – a really great looking car.

We recently saw the movie “Iron Man” staring Bobby Downey Jr as the man. He has a lot of very cool cars – but the one he drives around in is – the Audi R8. Duke wanted one – so being the great dad that I am I told him I wold get him one – I just didn’t tell him what scale it would be. This Revell model is very nicely detailed and goes together without problems. I followed the instructions and built it out of the box. Pictures follow:

Ok – it’s finished. The build went pretty well till I tried to glue the body to the chassis. I discovered two things – one – the front wheels were installed upside down so the car sat much too high in the front – and two – the interior was a little too far back in the body. I managed to fix the first and tweaked the second to get a reasonable fit. The paint was another problem as it seemed to like to come off with the masking tape a few times – that necessitated a few more touch-ups here and there. So here are the pics:

I bought this model on Ebay. It was an open box and I got it cheap. I’m kind of a cheap guy so that was ok. The decals had mostly flaked off of the decal sheet and the pilots helmet visor was cracked inhalf. Nevertheless it was a fun build. I salvaged most all of the decals and built the pilots helmet with the visor retracted inside. It is a very cool kit that is fun to look at. It won a first place at the 2006 Fremont Hornet model show in the miscelaneous catagory by beating out several very nice looking beatles!
